Consultant
Peter James is a contracts manager with over 15 years of commercial experience in defence and large private sector contracts. He has extensive contract drafting, negotiation and bid preparation experience along with expertise in:
- Commercial and contractual risk identification and mitigation
- Private Finance Initiative (PFI) contract management and
- Contract change management
Following seven years in the aerospace and defence sector, Peter spent three years working with the UK Public sector helping to bring some much needed private sector expertise to the National Health Service and Department of Social Services. This work provided specialised consultancy services for residential and nursing care for the elderly, and those with physical and mental health needs.
Following this, Peter was the Senior Commercial Manager leading a team for the Voyager programme (the UK’s largest PFI). The RAF was new to the concept of industry and the armed forces working harmoniously to provide a seamless service to troops and fast jet pilots. Peter was instrumental in developing a culture of acceptance of the approach and ensuring effective cooperation.
The programme provided the UK RAF with a fleet of A330-200 aircraft. These are used for all the UK armed forces air transport and air to air refuelling requirements. Leading this program gave Peter a unique opportunity to build commercial relationships with both the UK Ministry of Defence and serving members of the RAF.
Peter has now moved to live with his partner and her daughter in idyllic Norway.
